In questi tempi terribili, non le sventure e le tragedie, purtroppo mai mancate nella storia lontana e recente, ma il venir meno delle istituzioni e delle figure cui si faceva riferimento come porto sicuro della libertà e della democrazia, è il vero motivo di angoscia.
Con le sue parole, all'apertura del tour di cui è significativamente eponima "Land of Hope & Dreams", il Boss ci dà un grande motivo di speranza con poche parole, all'introduzione di tre canzoni, che sono un vero, alto, grande discorso politico.

They are removing residents off American streets and, without due process of law, are deporting them to foreign detention centers and prisons. This is all happening now.
A majority of our elected representatives have failed to protect the American people from the abuses of an unfit president and a rogue government. They have no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American.
The America l’ve sung to you about for 50 years is real and regardless of its faults is a great country with a great people. So we’ll survive this moment. Now, I have hope, because I believe in the truth of what the great American writer James Baldwin said. He said, “In this world, there isn’t as much humanity as one would like, but there’s enough.” Let’s pray.
Le cose Bruce le chiama con il loro nome, parla della merda che vede.
Persecuzione del dissenso, chiusura dei fondi ai programmi di assistenza, politiche dannosi per i lavoratori. Passi indietro sulle legislazioni dei diritti civili che hanno costruito una società più giusta e plurale. Pesci in faccia agli alleati storici e amicizia con dittatori che vessano popoli che combattono per la propria libertà. Tagli alle Università non allineate. Deportazioni di cittadini senza processi.
Queste cose stanno accadendo ora.
La rappresentanza ha fallito nell'impedire questo, segno che non comprende cosa vuol dire essere veramente americani
C'è una speranza?
Il Boss pensa di sì: l'America che ha cantato, nonostante tutto è un grande paese. Non c'è forse tutta l'umanità che vorremmo, ma ce n'è abbastanza.
Per queste parole, di cui gli siamo grati fino alla commozione, Bruce è stato attaccato in maniera feroce e scomposta dal POTUS. Non voglio ricordarne le parole, che si concludono con una minaccia di stampo mafioso, se non per sorridere (amaro) su quelle nelle quali il più noto (con Dylan?) cantante americano viene definito "not a talented guy". A spararla così grossa, nemmeno i tuoi ti seguono.
Ci voleva un cantante, a indicarci che la speranza non è morta, e chiedere che la gente ci mostri qual è la vera anima dell'America.
Lunga vita al boss, e viva la libertà.
